PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically, rapidly and surely carry out self-aligning work by providing the device with a sensor for detecting the axial central position of a filamentary body, such as an optical fiber, and a position regulating mechanism which aligns the central axis position of this filamentary body and the central position of a coating device in accordance with the signal from this sensor. SOLUTION: An optical axis detecting sensor 1 has an X sensor and a Y sensor and detects the position of the fiber 100A right after drawing from an X direction and a Y direction. The position regulating mechanism 2 comprises a gear and pinion which are respectively installed to the nipple and die of the coating device 101. The nipple is positioned and born in a superposed state turnably by means of the pinion disposed at the die and plural rollers. When a light quantity difference is detected in the light quantity distribution of the X, Y sensors inputted to a control section, a motor operates and the nipple is turned via a tooth part meshed therewith, by which the self-alignment is executed.
