PURPOSE: A method for inspecting a hydraulic valve lifter is provided to conveniently measure leak down amount by using lifting speed of a valve in operating a cam. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder head contains a cam shaft(10), a valve lifter(11), and a valve. The cam shaft is driven by a separate driver. A dial gauge(2) is fixed on an upper end of the valve. A probe(20) connected to the dial gauge is connected to a head portion of the valve. By driving the cam shaft in a stopped state of an engine, the valve lifter and the vale are elevated. Lifting speed of the valve is visually displayed on the dial gauge by the probe connected to the head portion. Thus, leak down amount is precisely measured by checking changed speed in the dial gauge while driving the valve. Therefore, an error in the valve lifter is conveniently checked.
