PURPOSE: A warning method of low quality fuel is provided to restrain usage of low quality fuel causing continuous knocking and to improve durability of an engine by warning a user of the usage of low quality fuel. CONSTITUTION: Occurrence of knocking is detected while a vehicle is started. If an actual ignition time is earlier than a normal ignition time, the ignition time is delayed to prevent knocking. If an actual ignition time is delayed rather than the normal ignition time, ignition time is advanced to increase an output of an engine. If a detected ignition time is over a specific level, a warning circuit is operated to output such a warning message as 'USE BETTER FUEL' on a dash panel. Thereby, a user is informed with the usage of low quality fuel and motivated to replace fuel of high quality.
