<p>An image reduction circuit (1) reduces a supplied original image. A high-order image memory (2) stores an input high-order image. A prediction tap acquisition circuit (3) extracts a prediction tap from a high-order image stored in the memory (2) for outputting to a prediction factor operational circuit (4), a pixel value update circuit (5) and a mapping circuit (6). The prediction factor operational circuit (4) uses the prediction tap as student data and a corresponding original image pixel as teacher data to create an observation equation and then a prediction factor by solving the observation equation. The pixel value update circuit (5) uses a prediction factor from the operational circuit (4) as student data and a corresponding original image data as teacher data to prepare an observation equation. By solving this equation, a plurality of optimum values for update pixel values corresponding to given factors can be determined concurrently.</p> |
