PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the cracking of the head of a rivet type contact, when caulked. SOLUTION: In a method for fixing a rivet type contact to a metal board 1, the rivet type contact 4 having a head 2 and a leg 3 with a diameter smaller than that of the head 2 formed in one unit is fixed to a hole 1A in the metal board 1 with the leg 3 inserted through the hole 1A of the metal board 1. The method comprises a primary caulking step, wherein the center at the end face 3A of the leg 3 is crushed to temporarily fasten the rivet type contact 4 to the metal board after the leg of the rivet type contact 4 is inserted through the hole 1A in the metal board 1, and a final caulking step, wherein the whole end face 3A of the leg 3 of the rivet type contact 4 is crushed to fix the rivet type contact 4 to the metal board 1.
