PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize efficient and firm welding for a metal terminal plate, by overlapping the metal terminal plate on a three-dimensional porous metal base, and having the plate irradiated with laser beam from the metal terminal plate side to weld the three-dimensional porous metal base with the metal terminal plate. SOLUTION: A three-dimensional porous metal base, such as a foam metal body or a sintered metal fiber body, etc., is applied with a paste obtained by adding water to a mixture of a powdered nickel hydroxide active material as the main ingredient, a conducting agent, a binding resin, and an additive, to fill the active material into the metal base. Then, the active material at the prescribed positions is removed through ultrasonic vibration, and to that portion, a metal terminal plate is irradiated by laser beam and welded. In order to carry out the welding efficiently, after removing the active material, the metal terminal plate welded portion of the three-dimensional porous metal base is pressed to increase the density of the base and thin the thickness. Then, more metal in the base is melted together with the metal terminal plate by irradiating the laser beam, thereafter they are solidified. Here, the terminal plate is melted into a base and solidified more compactly by the irradiation of the laser beam from the metal terminal plate side, to improve the strength. |
