PURPOSE: A plasma display panel using a high frequency and a method for driving the same are provided to perform continuous discharge by using a high frequency pulse. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel using a high frequency is characterized by generating a display discharge by a high frequency. The plasma display panel comprises a glow discharge cell(40) of a matrix type. The glow discharge cell comprises a first electrode(28), a second electrode(30), and a discharge space(38). A high frequency voltage is applied to the first electrode. An image data voltage is applied to the second electrode. The discharge space is filled with discharge gas for generating a gas discharge. A method for driving the same comprises the steps of: discharging a glow discharge cell by applying a high frequency voltage to a first electrode; stopping selectively the discharge of the glow discharge cell by applying an erasing pulse corresponding to an image data to a second electrode; and maintaining a display discharge by applying the high frequency pulse to the first electrode.
