The invention relates to a novel polymer used as a binder for producing activated carbon filters. The inventive polymer is a polyethylene homopolymer and/or polyethylene copolymer having a melt index (MFR 190/15) from 1.2 g/10 min to 10 g/10 min, a molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn ranging from 3 to 30, a bulk density ranging from 0.05 g/cm<3> to 0.5 g/cm<3> and a particle size ranging from 5 mu m to 300 mu m.
