PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin having a specific reduced viscosity, capable of highly polymerizing and deactivating even under a modest heating condition and inhibiting generation of insoluble component inducing various defects in dissolved in a solvent and useful for coating, etc. SOLUTION: This resin has 0.36-0.45 dl/g of reduced viscosity(RV) and a total number A of phenolic hydroxy group contained in 100 pieces of a polymer repeating unit and its metallic salt is made to be >=1.6. Preferably, the repeating unit is at least one kind selected from the formula: -Ph-SO2-Ph-O- and the formula: -Ph-SO2-Ph-O-A-O- [Ph is paraphenylene; A is formula III B is a single bond, a 1-3C alkylene, O or S; (m) is 1-3}] and an average particle diameter of the resin is 50-2,000μm.
