PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for calculating an ink supply amount of a printer with good operating efficiency capable of obtaining accurate data irrespective of a difference of a printing plate surface and capable of calculating a general purpose areal rate irrespective of a type of a printer. SOLUTION: A layout process is conducted by pages from character data BD and image data IM by a layout scanner 12, and the layout data are paged from imposition data. The imposed data is bit map developed, and converted into binary data. The binary data is counted at each section of a predetermined width by a counting means via a press plate areal data calculator 16. Then, after a reference width areal rate of a design part is calculated from the counted value, an areal data of an inking key width unit of a printer to be used is calculated from the calculated reference areal rate. |
