PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a polycarbonate diol having characteristics such as a high strength, high heat, oil and hydrolytic resistances essentially possessed by a polycarbonate and high elasticity and excellent in low-temperature characteristics and a polyurethane elastomer using the same polycarbonate diol. SOLUTION: This polycarbonate diol is obtained by connecting alkylene groups of at least one kind of alkylene diols as a raw material with carbonate bonds. The alkylene diols have the number of carbon chains exceeding 6 on the average and the plycarbonate diol is made to have <=30 deg.C melting peak temperature or no melting peak temperature.
