摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve earth-resistance by forming the peripheral ground of a floating foundation of a structure by using a ground generating liquefaction when an earthquake stronger than a specified intensity occurs. SOLUTION: An underground space 2a is provided in the foundation 2 of a building or a civil engineering structure 1 and the removed soil weight at the time when the foundation 2 is constructed is made nearly equal to the weight of the structure 1 including the foundation 2 to form a floating foundation. The particle size composition and the compacted density and the like of the peripheral ground 3 of the foundation 2 are adjusted to construct the ground so that it is not liquefied in a middle-scale or smaller earthquake of which occurrence provability is high and liquefied in a huge earthquake of which occurrence provability is low. If it is required, a foundation 4 supporting only the vertical load of the structure 1 is placed from the bottom face of the structure 1 to the foundation ground 5. Further, a buffer material 7 is provided in the peripheral part of the structure 1, which is in contact with the ground surface 6 and a continuous underground wall 8 is formed from the ground surface 6 to the ground 5, at the outer periphery. In this way, the building can sufficiently withstand middle-scale earthquakes and prevent serious damage such as collapse, settlement, etc., in huge earthquakes.
