PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the image processing unit to conduct parallel processing of plurality of jobs by efficiently using a storage area of an image storage section. SOLUTION: The image processing unit is provided with an image input section 1 that receives image information, an image storage section 2 that stores the image information received from the image input section 1, and an image output section 3 that outputs the image information stored in the image storage section 2. The image processing unit is able to receive plurality of jobs such as image input, image output and image input and output jobs. The image processing unit is also provided with a storage area decision section 43 that allocates a storage area to store the image information to the image storage section 2. The storage area decision section 43 discriminates a size of areas in the image storage section 2 required for an accepted job and allocates the storage area to the job based on the discriminated area size.
