PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance color reproducibility by incorporating a compd. that releases a specified development inhibitor into an emulsion layer in a photographic sensitive material contg. a specified compd. SOLUTION: A compd. that releases a development inhibitor convertible into a compd. having low development inhibiting ability by reaction with the oxidized body of a color developing agent in a color developing soln. or a precursor of the development inhibitor is incorporated into a silver halide emulsion layer not sensitive to visible light in a photographic sensitive material contg. a compd. of formula I or II and an image quality improver in the emulsion layer. In the formulae I and II, each of Z11, Z12, Z21 and Z22 is a group of nonrnetallic atoms required to complete a 5- or 6-membered monocycle or condensed nitrogen-contg. heterocycle or the like, each of R11, R12, R21 and R22 is an aliphatic group, each of R13-R17 and R23-R29 is H, alkyl or the like, each of X11 and X21 is an ion, each of m11 and m12 is the number of the ions required to compensate electric charges in each molecule and each of n11, n12, n21 and n22 is 0 or 1.
