PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the dimensional precision of the external shape of a mag net roll with a magnet chip disposed in a groove formed in the body part and to produce such a magnet roll having enhance dimensional precision in a simpli fied process at a reduced cost without reducing the surface magnetic flux density of magnetic poles, in particular the main magnetic pole. SOLUTION: The body part 5 of the magnet roll comprising a resin bond type isotropic ferritic magnet has been magnetized so that it has plural magnetic poles N1, N2, S1 and S2 on the peripheral surface in the peripheral direction. The body part 5 has a groove 6 along the axis in the peripheral surface at the main magnetic pole N1 and contains a resin bond type magnet chip 7 having >=40 kOe coercive force disposed in the groove 6. The body part 5 is formed by extrusion molding.
