The method involves evaluating the amplitude ratio of higher vibration modes of a vibrating spring-mass-damping system. The signal amplitudes of the vibration modes are separated using an electronic filter circuit and at the same time the time at which the amplitude ratio corresponding to cavitation occurs is measured and stored.
