PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive gas emergency shut-off device having the low pressure loss in regular use and having a simple structure. SOLUTION: A pipe joint 1 having upper and lower opening parts 1b, 1c and a lateral opening part 1a perpendicular to them is provided, a ring-shaped stopper 4 formed of a low melting point metallic material is arranged on the opening part 1b, a spherical valve element 6 is locked on the stopper 4, a union collar 10 is attached to the opening part 1c, a valve seat 12 for receiving the valve element 6 is formed on the upper end opening part of the union collar 10, the opening part 1a is connected to gas piping, and the union collar 10 is connected to a gas meter. When the temperature in a gas emergency shut-off device rises in emergency such as fire, the stopper 4 is melted, the valve element 6 is dropped by its own weight and locked on the valve seat 12, and the upper end opening part of the union collar 10 is closed.
