PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge the dynamic range of a correlative value in such a degree being equivalent to or more than the treatment of data as a true value and to reduce the number of its bits in a search device (searcher) for searching a synchronous timing with a spreading code sequence in the receiving signal of a CDMA receiving device. SOLUTION: The searcher is provided with a correlator 1 for obtaining the correlation of the spreading code sequence concerning the receiving signal spread by spectrum by the spreading code sequence and a nonlinear converting means 2 for nonlinearly converting the output value of the correlator 1 or the value corresponding to it into the value of a smaller data width and permitting it to be correlative value information. The searcher is constituted to execute the search processing of the synchronous timing with the spreading code sequence in the receiving signal through the use of the nonlinearly converted correlation information.
