PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the efficiency of an equipment by improving the transmission coefficient of a cylindrical body capable of transmitting ultraviolet rays used in an ultraviolet irradiation apparatus while accelerating the decomposition of org. matter. SOLUTION: A coating apparatus is equipped with a cylindrical body 1 passing a coated linear element 7 wherein the periphery of a linear element is coated with an ultraviolet curable resin and an ultraviolet irradiation lamp 2 is arranged outside the cylindrical body 1 to irradiate the coated linear element 7 with ultraviolet rays through the cylindrical body 1 to cure the ultraviolet curable resin. In this case, the cylindrical body 1 is obtained by forming a coating film 1b containing titanium dioxide and having a thickness of 0.03- below 0.5μm on the inner surface of a quartz pipe 1a.
