PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture without damages to organic layers, to provide both advantages of the organic layers and inorganic layers, and to heighten efficiency, prolong service life and lower cost. SOLUTION: This organic EL element comprises a substrate 1, and a hole injection electrode 2 and an electron injection electrode 7 on the substrate 1. Organic layers 3, 4 engaged in a luminous function intervene between the electrodes 2, 7. Here, an inorganic insulating electron injection layer 6 is put between the organic layers 3, 4 and the electron injection electrode 7, furthermore a buffer layer 5 including a polyolefin compound is put between the inorganic electron injection layer 6 and the organic layers 3, 4.
