PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the transparent braille recognizing device which can recognize raised letters on a work where the raised letters having projection parts are formed on a transparent material. SOLUTION: The transparent braille recognizing device 10 which recognizes the raised letters having projection parts 6 formed on the work 1 made of the transparent material mounted on a flat base has a laser irradiation unit 3 for irradiation with slit light or striped light 4, an image pickup means 2 which picks up the light emitted when the slit light or striped light 4 impinges on the top surface of the flat base, projection parts recognizing means 41, 42, 43, and 44 which recognize the projection parts 6 according to a slit pattern image picked up by the image pickup means 2 and generate the pattern image of the projection parts 6, and character converting means 45, 46, and 47 which extract the projection parts 6 from the pattern image of the projection parts 6 by raised letters and convert them into ordinary characters, so the raised letters can be recognized on the work 1. |
