PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the turning time of a thick plate by installing a rotation assisting device which is usually positioned under the table top of the roller table and which is composed of a lever for pushing the plate only at the time of assisting the turning and a driving device for driving the lever in the axial direction of a roller, between the rollers of the roller table. SOLUTION: The rotary rollers 4 of a turning device 2 are arranged so that large-diameter parts and small-diameter parts are alternately arranged and mutually reversely rotated at the time of turning the thick plate 1. The rotation assisting device 8 is arranged between the rotary rollers 4 and the turning assisting device 8 has functions by which the lever is driven by a driving means such as a hydraulic cylinder at the time of starting the turning of the plate 1, the side face of the plate 1 is pushed with that lever and the is assisted. The assisting lever is constructed so that it is usually arranged so as to be positioned under the table top of the turning device 2, positioned above the table top only at the time of assisting the turning and pushing the side face of the plate 1. The lever is pivoted on its supporting point and moved vertically.
