PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform output exactly as the color tones of image data to a desired part in the case that the number of colors capable of being simultaneously developed is less than the number of the colors of the image data to be displayed. SOLUTION: Full-color image data indicated by (m) colors are displayed by (n) colors on a display 210. A limited color cell 202 holding cells for (p) colors less than (n) is held in a color look-up table 201 and the full-color image data are color-reduced to (p) colors based on the limited color cell 202 and displayed. When a full-color image display area detection part 209 reports a desired area specified in images to an image display part 208, the image display part 208 registers the colors used by the full-color image data in the area to the look-up table 201 as a full-color cell 203. Then, relating to the display of the specified area, the full-color cell 203 is referred to and color development exactly as the image data is performed.
