PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cancel bit slips of many times per track being on a video tape without enlarging the scale of circuits. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a serial-parallel converting circuit 1 converting the serial data read out from a digital recording medium into parallel data, circuits 2, 3, 4 detecting the diviation between the leading bit of the sync pattern detected from the serial data and the leading bit of the serial data to be converted into one parallel data by the circuit 1 and a circuit 5 taking out parallel data whose leading bit is line up with the sync pattern from the two parallel data successively converted by the circuit 1.
