A piezoelectric vibrator (10) comprising a tubular case (11) opened at one end thereof and a stem (12) for sealing the opened end of the case (11), wherein the outer peripheral surface of the stem (12) and the inner peripheral surface of the case (11) have a generally oval shape. An allowance required when press-fitting the stem (12) to the opened end of the case (11) monotonously increases from the major axis side toward the minor axis side of the case (11). Therefore, a press-fit allowance is larger at the minor axis portions (115, 125) where a vertical stress is likely to be small and it is smaller at the major axis portions (116, 126) where a tensile stress is likely to be large, thereby eliminating a defective airtightness to be caused by a defective sealing and a broken case (11). The above design provides a piezoelectric vibrator container free from contact between a piezoelectric vibrator piece and the inner peripheral surface of the case, a piezoelectric vibrator using this container, a circuit board mounting the piezoelectric vibrator thereon and a method of producing the piezoelectric vibrator.
