The invention concerns an envelope (2) for mechanical protection of a connection device to an energy or fluid dispensing system, said device being designed to be installed outside a private zone and comprising a member metering the amount of energy or fluid consumed, a member interrupting (3) the supply of energy or fluid and a central data processing unit connected to said metering member from which it receives data concerning consumption and data concerning said connection device functioning, and to said interrupting member (3) whereto it sends opening or closing commands; said management unit communicating externally via a read/write unit (8) designed to receive a removable data medium. Said envelope (2) is characterised in that it comprises locking means (10) for prohibiting access to the read/write unit (8) and to the manual control of the interrupting member (3) to unauthorised persons.
