PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for specifying features of an image of a page direction, a language or a language family, and the like, in an electronic document. SOLUTION: This method/system specifies a text direction, and the language or the language family, by counting and measuring a distribution of the features scattered in character style elements in every quadrant. A data volume of a sample distribution is thereby reduced when using a training method with a teacher for generating the sample distribution of the features of the character styles from a training data sample.
