PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the internal state of a conductor or an insulator from the outside by arranging multiple conductors each having a predetermined length opposite to one another at predetermined intervals, and retaining the inside surface of an air gap inside which the conductors are formed by the insulator that is formed from a transparent or translucent material and has a predetermined length. SOLUTION: This cord switch is composed by arranging conductors 2 by embedding them in slots 3 in the inside surface of a transparent or translucent insulator 1 from an elastic material using a transparent vinyl chloride resin or low density polyethylene having a density around 0.85 and providing an air gap 4 to insulate the opposite conductors 2 from one another when they are not pressed. The arrangement of the conductors 2 with respect to the lengthwise direction of the insulator 1 is so made in a spiral form along with the slots 3 as to eliminate a dead angle at the time of compression. The shape of the cord switch is formed into a cross-sectionally circular form and in a predetermined length, and the ratio of its outside diameter to its length is so set that the latter is ten or more times as much as the former. Because the insulator 1 is transparent or translucent as mentioned above, the internal states of the conductors 2 and the insulator 1 can be recognized from the outside visually or by a light source system.
