1,198,576. Perforating webs. LILLA EDETS PAPERSBRUKS A.B. 7 Nov., 1968 [9 Nov., 1967], No. 52850/68. Heading B4B. A machine for transversely perforating webs e.g. of paper has a roller 2 bearing at least one longitudinal knife 5 co-operating with abutment means comprising a longitudinal support 12 having transversely spaced abutment surfaces resiliently urged into the path of the knives 5. As shown, the abutment surfaces are provided by glass plates 13 spaced by spacers (17), Fig. 3 (not shown), a compressed air hose 16 providing resilient loading. On passing a paper web over the roller 2 in cooperation with felt-covered guide rollers 7, the plates 13 co-operate with the knives 5 to produce perforation slits. To ensure even wear of the knives 5, the support bar 12 is reciprocated longitudinally through an eccentric connection and worm gear drive from the machine's power source, Fig. 3 (not shown). In alternative contstructions the plates 13 have bevelled edges to obviate the use of spacers, and may be formed of ceramics or hard metal, or an integral machined block may be employed; further the roller 2 may be reciprocated in relation to the bar 12.
|
