PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile equipment for discriminating whether or not an opposite party is provided with the coping function of a JBIG coding system, encoding image data by the JBIG encoding system, storing them in an image memory and transmitting them when the coping function is provided and encoding the image data by an MMR encoding system, storing them in the image memory and transmitting them when the coping function is not provided at the time of facsimile transmission, and also to provide a digital composite device capable of efficiently utilizing the image memory by executing such a function at the time of the facsimile transmission and encoding the image data by the JBIG encoding system at the time of copying. SOLUTION: This facsimile equipment is provided with an abbreviated dial key 14A to which the coping function of the JBIG encoding system is additionally registered as opposite party information, and a signal processing part 10 for encoding read image data by the JBIG encoding system, storing them in the image memory 20 and then memory-transmitting them when the coping function of the JBIG encoding system is additionally registered at the time of performing the facsimile transmission to the opposite party registered in the abbreviated dial key 14A.
