PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a package for roll type photosensitive material by which the reduction of cost is realized and further which is satisfactory in terms of environmental countermeasures in the case of discarding waste material. SOLUTION: This package for the roll type photosensitive material is constituted by winding photosensitive material 112 round a core 111 so that the roll type photosensitive material 110 may be formed, and shielding at least the side surface of the material 110 from light by side covers 130 fixed on the core 111. Relating to the package, a leader member 120 made of paper is connected to the terminal part of the wound material 112 and wound round the outer peripheral surface of the material 110 further, whereby the outer peripheral surface of the material 110 is shielded from the light. It is desirable that the tear strength (JISP8116) of the member 120 made of paper is >=100 g and is twice or more times as high as that of the cover 130.
