PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a mode from being left unreleased by a user in the portable telephone set, where the mode such as a drive mode to inform a caller of a message denoting off-hook of a recipient is provided, and setting/release of the mode is operated by the user who is the recipient are operated with a switch. SOLUTION: A message mode setting notice means 11 and a message mode release notice means 12 inform a service center S1 of a setting/release request of a drive mode to allow the service center S1 to execute the setting and the release of the mode, in response to depression of a drive mode button of an input section 1 of the portable telephone set T1 by the user. Furthermore, a setting means is configured by setting a received release time by a switch operation of the input section 1 by a release time setting means 13 of the portable telephone set T1, and a release means is configured by allowing the release notice means 12 to inform the service center S1 of the release request in response to it, so that a timer means 14 counts the release time.
