PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for a low-sulfur fuel oil which, even when added in a small amt. to a low-sulfur fuel oil, realizes not only an excellent lubricity but also excellent oxidation stability, water separation, and rust prevention, and also provide a low-sulfur fuel oil compsn. contg. the same. SOLUTION: This additive, used for a low-sulfur fuel oil having a sulfur content of 0.05 wt.% or lower, essentially comprises (A) a lubricity improver having a solubility parameter (SP value) of 8.0-9.6, an HLB value of 0.5-1.7, a mol.wt. of 200-350, an acid value (AV) of 130-250, and an iodine value of 60.0-188.0 and (B) an antioxidant having a chain transfer constant of 0.001-100 and an SP value ov 8.0-12.0.
