SOLUTION: In the unit for recording and/or reproducing an information signal to an optical disk 101, on which the information signal is recorded along a recording track, for using a specified pattern as the synchronizing signal of this information signal, this unit has a disk identifying part 70 for identifying the kind of optical disk 101 from a relevant patter selected out of plural kinds of selectable patterns and recorded.
