PURPOSE: An apparatus for forming a core of an optical wave guide and method for manufacturing a plane optical wave guide using the apparatus is provided, which emits a core forming material with a certain quality of material through a nozzle for forming a core of an optical wave guide and manufactures the optical wave guide using the apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for forming a core of an optical wave guide comprises: a stage (200) which a lower portion of cladding (202) is installed; a stage control unit(210) for adjusting a position and a temperature of the stage (200); a nozzle (220) for emitting a certain material on the lower portion of cladding (202) for forming a core (203); a nozzle control unit (230) for adjusting a temperature of a position of the nozzle (220); a core material providing unit (240) for providing a core material to the nozzle (220); a core material providing control unit (250) for adjusting a flux and a temperature of the core material; a core pattern control unit (260) for providing a corresponding control signal to the stage control unit (210), the nozzle control unit (230), and the core material providing control unit (250). Therefore, a special manufacturing progress such as progresses for manufacturing a photo mask, a etching mask form, an optical wave guide etching, and a mask etching are not needed.
