PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fluorine-containing copolymer that has excellent preservation stability, adhesion to the base materials, stain-proofing properties, resistance to chemicals, whether and the like and can be used as a one-package curing type coating by using two kinds of specific monomer units at a specific ratio. SOLUTION: The objective copolymer is obtained by using (A) 15-85 mol.%, preferably 30-80 mol.%, more preferably 55-75 mol.% of a fluorolefin, (B) 2-50 mol.%, preferably 5-30 mol.%, more preferably 10-25 mol.% of a hemicetal ester of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, methyl; n and p are each 0-11; R3 is a 1-18C alkyl; R4 is H, a 1-18C alkyl, formula II (R5 is a 1-18C alkyl; m and p are each 0-11)], (C) when necessary, polymerization units comprising an alkyl vinyl ether, alkyl allyl ether and (meth)acrylic ester. In a preferred embodiment, the objective copolymer has a molecular weight of 500-50,000. This copolymer is used as a main component to formulate fluorine-containing coating, varnish and the like.
