[Also in Division C2] Catalysts for the preparation of aromatic isocyanates comprise combinations of palladium dichloride and/or rhodium trichloride with vanadium pentoxide or molybdenum dioxide. Platinum tetrachloride or cupric bromide may be included. The catalyst may be deposited on alumina, silica carbon, barium sulphate, calcium carbonate, asbestos bentonite, diatomaceous earth or Fullers earth as a carrier. Certain organic and inorganic acid halides enhance the activity of the catalyst. Phosphorus and vanadium oxychlorides are particularly specified.</p> |
