PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical glass capable of easily giving the optical glass having a high refractive index characteristic, a low diffusion characteristic, a low yield point Ts and a low liquid phase temperature L.T. SOLUTION: This optical glass comprises 25-42 wt.% of B2O3, 14-30 wt.% of La2O3, 2-13 wt.% of Y2O3, 2-20 wt.% of SiO2, >2 wt.% and <=9 wt.% of Li2O, 0.5-20 wt.% of CaO, 2-20 wt.% of ZnO, 0-8 wt.% of Gd2O3, 0-8 wt.% of ZrO2, and 0.5-12 wt.% of (Gd2O3+ZrO2), wherein the total amount of the components is >=90 wt.%, and, if necessary, further 0-5 wt.% of Na2O, 0-5 wt.% of K2O, 0-5 wt.% of MgO, 0-5 wt.% of SrO, 0-10 wt.% of BaO, 0-5 wt.% of Ta2O5, 0-5 wt.% of Al2O3, 0-5 wt.% of Yb2O3, 0-5 wt.% of Nb2O5, 0-2 wt.% of As2O3 and 0-2 wt.% of Sb2O3.
