SOLUTION: The developing apparatus has an image area meter 51, a film thickness gage 52, a volume computation section 61, a replenishing amt. computation section 62 and a replenishing pump 50. The image area meter 51 acquires the image area of the printing plate. The film thickness gage 52 acquires the thickness of a photosensitive agent for the printing plate. The volume computation section 61 computes the volume of the photosensitive agent of the printing plate from the image area obtd. by the image area meter 51 and the thickness obtd. by the film thickness gage 52. The replenishing amt. computation section 62 determines the replenishing amt. of the developer in accordance with the volume of the photosensitive agent of the printing plate computed at the volume computation section 61. The replenishing pump 50 replenishes developer by the replenishing amt. computed at the replenishing amt. computation section 62.
