PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To gain memory access flexibly without any trouble even when the memory size, the number of blocks, and the block size of a loaded memory medium is unknown by analyzing address information by retrieving specific data written to the loaded memory medium. SOLUTION: Identification information (ID) stored in an extension ROM connected to an extension ROM DIMM slot 213 is read out and it is judged whether or not the read ID is already known. When not, the connected extension ROM DIMM 230 has the block erased at the head address and then the head address and specific address are written to the current address. At this point of time, the specific data are written to the head address of the extension ROM DIMM 230 and one block following it is erased. This specific data are retrieved thereafter to detect the size of the extension ROM DIMM part 230.
