PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a material and a time by predicting to calculate ink using amounts according to printing colors per unit image by using gradation data of a makeup image, thereby accurately estimating the inaccurate using amount by a visual observation without skill. SOLUTION: The ink using amount estimate supporting apparatus comprises an external memory 2 for temporarily storing makeup image data, and an arithmetic unit 10 for predicting to calculate an ink using amount by reading the data from the memory 2. The unit 2 stores read color image data in a main memory 12, predicts to calculate an ink using amount of the image data by an arithmetic processing means 30 and prints the amount on a cut form via an editing processing means 40 and an output processing means 50. An electronic printing plate making system predicts the ink using amount based on the makeup color image data, and transmits the predicted amount to the estimate supporting apparatus based on an output command of a makeup station. In this case, the means 30 calculates a total pixel value based on a formula and calculates a unit ink amount based on the total value to obtain a common ink using amount without influence of gradation characteristics or the like.
