PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deposition of carbonaceous material (carbon) at the time of producing a synthetic gas by the reaction of a hydrocarbon such as methane with a reforming material such as steam. SOLUTION: A nickel catalyst for reforming, which is composed of a multiple oxide having a composition expressed by a formula, aM.bNi.cMg.dCa.eO and in which M and Ni are in a highly dispersed state, is used. (In the formula, each of (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) expresses molar fraction, a+b+c+d=1, 0.0001<=a<=0.10, 0.0001<=b<=0.10, 0.80<=(c+d)<=0.9998, 0<=c<=0.9998, 0<=d<=0.998, (e) expresses the number necessary for element to keep charge equilibrium with oxygen and M expresses at least one kind of element among a group IIIB element, a group IVA element, a group VIB element, a group VIIB element, a group IA element and a lanthanoid element). |
