PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical current limiter, which can surely suppress a sudden current by a simple means when a short-circuit fault is generated, and can maintain during a comparably long term its current limiting function. SOLUTION: In a current limiter 15 in which connecting AC terminals 17, 18 of a rectifying bridge circuit 16 in series with an electric power system, a DC reactor 21 is provided connectively between its DC terminals 19, 20, there is connected in series with the DC reactor 21 a heat current-limiter element 22 of a thermistor with a positive temperature coefficient(PTC) wherein generating heat by its overcurrent, its resistance is increased owing to its temperature rise.
