PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of an extreme fluctuation in a cutting speed during cutting of an H-steel pile by a water jet. SOLUTION: A water jet 7 is injected, as shown by (a), at an inclination angleθagainst the web 2 of an H-steel pile 1 to effect cutting of the H-steel pile 1. A water jet nozzle 6 is moved in a cutting direction 8 to cutting positions p1-p4. Since the web 2 is cut, as shown at (b), in a direction approximately equal to a longitudinal direction up to cutting positions p2-p3, a substantially cut thickness is increased and a cutting speed is lowered. By setting the inclination angleθto 15 deg. or more, the apparent increase of the thickness is suppressed to 3.9 or less times. As shown at (c), when the inclination angleθis set to 0, a cutting speed is extremely lowered in the vicinity of a cut position p13 where the web 2 is cut, and setting of a cutting condition is extremely difficult to make.
