<p>Corrosion resistant, electrically weldable steel sheet or strip, useful for containers, has an electroplated pure Sn layer on one face and electrodeposited layers of metallic Cr and oxidised Cr. The coatings are produced in a single pass pref. by degreasing, rinsing, pickling, rinsing, tin plating, rinsing, chromium plating, rinsing and oiling. Electrical weldability is improved since, during can body mfr., the tin layer faces the chrome layer, thus reducing resistance to current passage compared with sheet or strip plated on both faces with Sn and Cr.</p> |
