<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoplastic polyester resin foam which has an improved impact resistance while retaining its inherent excellent characteristics by compounding two polyester resins in a specified wt. ratio and foaming the resultant compsn. SOLUTION: A polyester resin (A) is selected from among condensates of arom. dicarboxylic acids and 4-cyclohexanedimethanol, and a polyester resin (B) is selected from among condensates of arom. dicarboxylic acids and aliph. dihydric alcohols, provided the difference in intrinsic viscosity between the resins A and B is 0.3 or lower. A mixture comprising 8-80 wt.% resin A and 20-92 wt.% resin B is melt kneaded in an extruder to give a compsn. After a blowing agent is forced into the compsn., the compsn. is extruded into a low-pressure region to be foamed. A sheet obtd. by foaming the compsn. 2-15 times is formed into containers, giving food containers.</p> |
