The visible cover(2) of the airbag has on the back side at least one cut(4) which is orientated perpendicularly to the top surface, has a depth which is less than the thickness of the cover, and extends along a parting line over at least a part of the intended break points(3). The parting line is closed. The cover is made of a flexible material such as leather or imitation leather. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the attachment of a visible cover on the cap(1) of the airbag cover in which the visible cover is aligned in a negative form of the cover assembly, fixed there and then attached to the cap.
