PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the toughness of peripheral parts of an exhaust pipe against a heat load by determining the fuel cut condition on the basis of the engine speed, and estimating the temperature of an exhaust pipe of the vehicle on the basis of that determination, and in the case where the temperature exceeds the predetermined value, correcting the specified change gear ratio in the direction for reducing the change gear ratio. SOLUTION: A shift controller 42 for controlling a gear change mechanism (a hydraulic actuator, solenoid valve group 16) in response to the signal showing the change gear ratio decided on the basis of the detected car speed and the engine load and the signal showing the specified change gear ratio by the operated of a change lever 22a is provided. An engine controller 40 counts the output of a crank angle sensor 32, and detects the engine speed. The shift controller 42 estimates the temperature of an exhaust pipe on the basis of the fuel cut condition determined on the basis of the detected operating condition and the engine speed. When the temperature of the exhaust pipe exceeds the predetermined value, the specified change gear ratio is corrected in the direction for reducing the change gear ratio. |
