PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decide an image processing parameter for emphasizing and suppressing a face image according to the size of the facial image included in an image. SOLUTION: An image indicated by image data S is displayed on a display means 2, and positions P1 and P2 of the width direction of a face image are designated by an inputting means 3 such as a mouse. An estimating means 5 calculates a distance between the positions P1 and P2 based on the designated positions P1 and P2, and calculates the size F of the facial image from this distance. A parameter deciding means 6 calculates a gain M for suppressing the intermediate frequency components of the image data S and a gain H for emphasizing the high frequency components based on the size F of the facial image. At that time, the gains M and H are made larger according as the size F of the face image is made smaller. A granular suppression and sharpness emphasis processing means 9 performs emphasis and suppression to the image data S, and obtains processed image data S', and the processed image data S' are reproduced by a reproducing means 7. |
