PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cordless telephone system which prevents a user of a slave unit who does not know hold-state of a master unit from releasing the hold-state of the master unit without an intention by making a speech communication request to the master unit from the slave unit. SOLUTION: In the cordless telephone system that is provided with a master unit 1 which has a radio transmitting part 4 and a radio receiving part 5 which transmit and receive a voice signal through a line and perform cordless communication with a slave unit 2 and a warning signal transmitting part 9 that transmits a warning signal in response to a speech communication request from the unit 2 to the unit 1 that now holds speech communication and the unit 2 which performs cordless communication with the unit 1, if the unit 1 is in the process of holding speech communication, the unit 1 emits a warning signal to a speech communication request from the unit 2, makes the unit 2 perform warning and also once makes the speech communication disapproval and after that allows the speech communication when prescribed conditions are satisfied.
